KITRAC was appointed as the principal electrical contractor for the Likoni Shopping Centre — a two-storey retail complex anchored by a supermarket, food court, and over 30 individual retail units. Works began during the final stages of the building's shell-and-core construction phase, allowing KITRAC to collaborate closely with the main contractor to ensure all service routes were correctly coordinated before finishes were applied.
The electrical scope included a 630A three-phase incoming supply, main LV switchboard, individual tenant distribution boards with sub-metering, landlord common area circuits for car park, escalators, and external signage, plus a structured data and voice cabling backbone to all lettable units. A 250 kVA standby generator and automatic transfer switch were installed to keep anchor tenants trading during any Kenya Power outage.
The centre opened on schedule in 2022 and KITRAC has since maintained the electrical infrastructure under a rolling service contract, providing 24/7 emergency call-out cover for the property management team.
630A main LV switchboard with metering, tied to 34 tenant distribution boards and landlord common-area circuits covering car park, escalators, and feature lighting.
Individual tenant DBs with pre-wired tails to each unit boundary, enabling quick tenant fit-outs without any disruption to neighbouring units or common areas.
Full CAT6 structured cabling backbone to all retail units, food court operators, and the management office — complete with a central comms room and fibre patch panel.
250 kVA diesel generator with ATS providing seamless standby power for anchor tenants, common areas, and security systems within 10 seconds of a mains failure.
Project handed over on schedule, with Kenya Power connection and full EPRA installation certificate issued prior to the centre's public opening day.
